2nd Impact Workshop cum Master Class on Capacity building initiative for Citywide Water and Sanitation Management

Training is an investment for all involved: the learner and his/her organisation, the course developer, the trainer and the organisation sponsoring the training. Measuring the effectiveness of training efforts can both demonstrate the value of those resource investments and improve the quality of future training. Process evaluation and feedback during and at the end of each training focuses on how well the elements of the training were conducted, while outcome evaluation focuses on whether the training elicited desired results.

CSE capacity building initiative over the past decade and under the aegis of School of Water and Waste (SWW)– a unit established in 2018 combined together has 6000+ alumni – change makers, practitioners, regulators and managers involved in pushing for innovative polices principles, innovative technologies, and on ground implementation strategies which lay the foundations for a water and waste-prudent society. During the launch of the SWW in 2018, a two-day planning meeting was held on May 21-22, 2018 in AAETI which was attended by several eminent national and international experts to deliberate upon conceptualising the School, and its courses, curricula and faculty. The aim and purpose of this meeting was to identify knowledge and skill gaps in the area of city wide water and sanitation, knowledge exchange on best experience and learnings to bridge in the capacity building of individuals and institutions and to foster collaboration to strengthen research, advocacy and capacity building aimed at creating ‘change agents’ – water manager and leaders. During this meeting following goals were also set to achieve in the years to come for SWW.T

• Foster research and build upon national and international knowledge exchange programmes
• Showcase and learn from best practices in the global South, developing as a global centre of knowledge exchange.
• Develop a cadre of practitioners who will disseminate knowledge by making changes on ground, thus creating multipliers.
• Publish peer reviewed articles and reports covering diverse aspects (political, technological, social, financial and environmental) of water and sanitation sector.

Taking this agenda forward, a 3 days ‘Impact Workshop cum Master Class’ is being organized which is a part of the two-part series events to re-connect with alumni and resource persons for evaluation and assessment aimed to achieve higher outcomes of capacity building interventions.
