In ‘Drinking the Sky’, Dutch filmmaker Joost de Haas travels first to the wettest place on earth, then the driest. To Cherapunjee in north-east India and to the Atacama desert in Chile. Both places are populated – and therein lies the intrigue: how do you cope with life in the deluge and life in the driest spot on earth? In a film full of surprises de Haas looks at water management in a couple of places where it really matters.
